Although The Colour Storm imagines a colour “more wondrous and revelatory than even ultramarine,” that deep blue, made from ground lapis lazuli, was the star of the renaissance. It was found only in one place: a remote, mountainous region of Afghanistan, and was worth more than its weight in gold. This demi-lune set of twelve drawers is one of the pieces paying homage to it.
