Although The Colour Storm imagines a colour “more wondrous and revelatory than even ultramarine,” that deep blue, made from ground lapis lazuli, was the star of the renaissance. It was found only in one place: a remote,region of Afghanistan, and was worth more than its weight in gold.

This cocktail cabinet’ pays homage to the colour. The angel’s wings echo repeated references in the novel to angels both good and bad. Inside the cabinet is a surprise, an embroidered silk-work, reminiscent of Sybille’s hand stitched gowns.
